A note about Madeira Island
Madeira is a Portuguese island famous for its wine, gastronomy, breathtaking views and mild subtropical climate all year round. The climate here averages 25Cº during summer and 17Cº during Winter.
Madeira is perfect for enduro, trail riding, and for the whole off-road scene in general because of it’s hills, wide variety of terrains and really awesome weather.
Here we can venture off-road and enjoy a huge variety of courses, from open road, full gas, to the really slow technical side of trails.

Real Enduro Experiences in Madeira
We offer single day tours, full or half day, for those who love riding motorbikes and are looking for an unique experience.
A Full-day tour usually starts at 10:00 and finishes at 16:00, with a lunch break of an hour.
Half-day tours usually starts at 10:00 and finish at 13:00

Had an amazing day with Joao. He’s a top guy with years of experience, wealth of local knowledge and is a great instructor. I have ridden most of my life as well, even so, experienced things I’d never came across. Madeira is such a unique and amazing location for such an experience, and with top spec brand new bikes, full kit supplied (handy when you’re on holiday and don’t have your own with you) a seriously experienced tutor/guide, i learned a lot and took a lot away from the whole experience. If you’re into bikes, honestly this is a must. Cracking mix of off road trails, on road, moto x.
All you need is your license. Mountain Gadget deal with pick up, kit, bikes, guide, and drop off.
On a real positive as well, Joao really takes the time to chat about and consider your riding experience which will undoubtedly influence your days experience. My day met every expectation and more. Well worth the effort to get booked on, and the money. 5 star all day long.

João is a great guide. Awsum rider and Taylor’s the ride to your ability. He knows the mountains well. Great bikes husky 300 tpi . Road all day up the mountains , amazing views and some technical stuff as well. I will definitely come back next time I’m in medira.
João nous a très bien accueilli, et à la première vue des motos, nous savions que la journée allait être mémorable (450 CRF-R, avec très peu d’heures au compteur). Après avoir fait les premières presentations, un rapide briefing, et s’être équipé, nous voilà parti.
Comme d’habitude sur cette île, les paysages sont magnifiques et variés. Le terrain de jeu est formidable et João en connaît les moindres recoins. On peut appeler ça du vrai Enduro, d’énormes montées, des marches, de la vitesse, de la technique… nous avons tout fait.
Pour finir cette journée, dernier stop pour le «Poncha » (alcool local).
Merci João, je recommande à tout les passionnés de moto, de passage à Madère d’essayer cette expérience inoubliable.
So glad I did this! On holiday with my family and I thought I deserved a me day. As a keen motor biker I came across Joao and his company prior to going to Madeira and booked up for a 6 hour day trip exploring Madeira the alternative way on a Husqvarna off road motorbike! Great equipment, great local knowledge, different skill levels to suite all from beginner to expert. Joao even took me to a little rustic restaurant up in the hills! Superb day and what a great experience. Thanks Joao! Very highly recommended!
Um dia incrível e muito bem passado! Nunca andei de Mota na terra e o joão ensinou me tudo o que deveria fazer desde como usar a embraiagem em subidas íngremes, posição não Mota entre outras coisas, o equipamento sempre limpo e a cheirar bem , as motas estão muito bem mantidas e não ocorreu nenhum problema ! A Mountain Gadget leva-nos a sítios incríveis e muito deslumbrantes, experiência única recomendo a qualquer um desde a um simples principiante a um expert nas motas !
The bikes. Husky 300 cc two strokes were/are perfect enduro. Quite light and manageable with enough power when u need it. I’m glad we weren’t on his older models, the CR 450four strokes. Me and my bro have been stuck on hill climbs on those bikes before in the UK and near died of exhaustion. So the bikes are fit for purpose, well maintained and we loved them.
The terrain was varied, a lot of dry soft dirt but also compacted dirt, rocky tracks, animal tracks , you name it we had a bit of everything.
The tour consisted of lots of stopping and starting which was great coz if gave us a minute to rest and each time we stopped we were given tips and tuition and what to expect around the next corner regarding what line to take and of any impending obstacles, all invaluable stuff and I was so glad Jauo really took the time to make sure always we were having fun but also keeping it challenging and always learning.
To conclude, we highly recommend mountain gadget for all the afore mentioned reasons. This day out far exceeded my expectations and actually made my holiday. Not just the best day this week but one of my best days ever. I’ll never forget this day out.

Big recommendation for all level riders. Alltough I had no enduro experience I had a blast. Joao will challenge you according to your skill and in the end you’ll look back to an amazing day. The bikes are kept in great condition and the gear was clean.

This was a fantastic experience and the highlight of my trip. I have good street riding experience but little to none off-road. Joao took the time to coach me as we went along with great patience. I gained new skills and confidence as we advanced, and learned so much in just half a day. The day felt like riding with a friend. It was evident that with Joao’s experience level and the amazing beauty of Madeira, there was great potential for everyone from beginner to advanced riders to have an unforgettable experience.
